Our stories

Before you book a Moroccan bath

A Moroccan bath is a warm-water cleanse with black soap and a kessa-glove scrub, not a massage. Skip it if you've shaved, waxed or been sunburnt in the last day or two, or have irritated skin. For the full experience, book the bath first and a Moroccan massage straight after.

What exactly happens?

Warm water softens the skin; black soap is applied and rinsed; a textured kessa glove scrubs away dead skin; a final rinse finishes it. Full steps on the Moroccan bath page.

Bath vs massage

The bath cleans and exfoliates. The Moroccan massage is an argan-oil massage. Together: scrub first, oil second.

Who should skip it, or wait

  • Freshly shaved or waxed skin (wait 48 hours)
  • Sunburn, cuts, rashes, eczema or psoriasis flare-ups
  • Any skin infection

How often?

Every three to four weeks is plenty. Scrubbing more often can irritate skin.

Questions before you book

Does the kessa scrub hurt?

It's firm, not painful. Ask for lighter pressure if your skin is sensitive.

Can I shave before a Moroccan bath?

Better not. Shave at least 48 hours before, or after, to avoid stinging.
